The Deaf Ethnic Women’s Association is hosting a Free art workshop at Tate Britain this month (Nov).

Children aged 5 – 12 with any level of deafness, from ethnic minority backgrounds (BME), are invited to take part in a fun-packed day with hands-on arts and crafts and a guided sculpture tour.

The tour, which is run by Tate Britain, offers children a rare opportunity to touch and discuss famous sculptures by renowned artists from its collections.

The arts and crafts session is organised by DEWA’s chair and qualified Art Psychotherapist, Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq, and lead by fellow DEWA artist Fiona Barclay.

The event is held in conjunction with This Is Us D.E.A.F, a DEWA and NDCS funded project to understand the experiences of growing up with deafness in ethnic minority families.

Parents are asked to supervise their children at the event and support the project by completing a questionnaire – gift vouchers will be given to all parents who take part, and lunch is available for free.
