Enrichment & Wider Opportunities

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Learning at Longwill extends beyond the classroom. Clubs, visits, projects and community partnerships give pupils opportunities to practise communication, build independence, develop interests and experience the wider world.

Accessible & Inclusive
Enrichment is planned to be accessible and inclusive. Staff consider communication, sensory access, hearing technology, safety, individual support and reasonable adjustments so pupils can participate meaningfully.

Youth Club

Pupils and families can access additional opportunities through Birmingham Deaf Youth Club, providing activities and experiences for Deaf children and young people.

Educational Visits & Residential Opportunities

Educational visits and residential opportunities give pupils the chance to experience learning in new environments while developing communication, confidence, resilience, independence and teamwork.

PGL – Year 6
Year 6 pupils have opportunities to take part in residential experiences designed to encourage independence, teamwork, confidence and new experiences beyond the classroom.

Forest School & Outdoor Learning

At Longwill School, Forest School and outdoor learning give children opportunities to explore, investigate and learn through practical experiences in the natural environment.

These sessions help children develop confidence, independence, resilience, teamwork and problem-solving skills while supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Our Forest School Practitioners Our own experienced Forest School practitioners lead sessions across the school. Anna leads Forest School for children in Years 2–6, while Miss Smith is our Forest School practitioner for EYFS and Year 1.

Activities are carefully planned to be safe, engaging and appropriate for each age group, enabling every child to take supported risks, develop new skills and enjoy learning outdoors.
