About

Longwill School for the Deaf

Longwill School for the Deaf is a specialist school for Deaf children aged 2-11. We deliver a rich and ambitious education through a sign-bilingual approach, using British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken/written English responsively so pupils can access language, learning and the wider life of the school.

A sign-bilingual approach gives pupils access to language and learning through British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken/written English.

Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum while being deliberately designed around the communication, language and access needs of Deaf learners. High expectations sit alongside specialist teaching, visual access, strong relationships and opportunities for children to develop confidence and independence.

A Community Built on Belonging Longwill is a community built on belonging. We want every pupil to feel safe, valued and represented, to develop a positive Deaf identity, and to see future possibilities through Deaf and hearing role models.
